Tu B’Shevat & Eating in Partnership with Your Body
Tu B’Shevat offers a gentle lens on eating — moving away from food rules and toward mindful nourishment, body trust, and partnership with yourself.

Why am I suddenly exhausted for no reason?
Why do my moods swing from calm to rage in seconds?
Why does my body feel foreign to me — like it’s working against me?
And perhaps the hardest question of all — where did my spark go?
If you’re nodding your head, you’re not broken — you’re simply human.
You’re a woman in midlife navigating one of the most transformative, and often misunderstood, stages of life: perimenopause and menopause.
This phase can feel like a storm — unpredictable, exhausting, and disorienting — especially when you’ve spent years juggling family, career, and countless responsibilities. But the truth is, midlife isn’t an ending. It’s an invitation to pause, recalibrate, and reconnect with yourself in a deeper way.
I wish someone had shared this information with me 6 years ago, when my body felt like it changed overnight and pesky symptoms like eczema - which I had never had before- and 9 extra kilos of weight landed on my body!
During perimenopause and menopause, our bodies go through complex hormonal changes. Estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone — the hormones that have guided our cycles and energy for decades — begin to fluctuate.
Progesterone gently tapers off, while estrogen behaves like a rollercoaster — spiking and crashing unpredictably. This hormonal turbulence affects nearly every cell in the body, explaining why symptoms can appear so varied:
As I shared in a recent webinar, these are not signs of weakness — they’re feedback. Your body is speaking to you, asking for attention, compassion, and change.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned, both personally and in working with women over 40, is this:
💡 Your body is not the enemy — it’s your messenger.
When we stop fighting our bodies and start listening to them, we can finally begin to heal. That means:
It’s not about restriction or perfection. It’s about nourishment and curiosity — fueling yourself in ways that truly support your changing body and mind.
I often say to my clients: Let’s get back on the same side as your body.
Instead of judging it, we start a dialogue with it.
Ask yourself:
Small tweaks in lifestyle, nutrition, and mindset can have an enormous ripple effect. Even choosing to slow down, take a deep breath, and eat mindfully can reset your nervous system and bring your energy back into balance.
Midlife invites us to ask a powerful question:
“Who am I becoming?”
This isn’t about getting back to who you were — it’s about evolving into the next version of yourself.
One who listens to her body, honors her needs, and makes empowered choices every day.
Because when you understand what’s happening inside you — biologically and emotionally — you can reclaim your spark, not just survive this chapter, but thrive in it.
Menopause and perimenopause are not something to “get through.” They’re a time to reset, refocus, and reconnect with yourself.
By understanding your body’s signals and giving yourself permission to slow down, nourish deeply, and live with intention, you can create a life that feels balanced, vibrant, and fulfilling — on your own terms.
If this message resonated, I’d love to hear from you.
What’s one small change you can make today to honor your body and energy?
